Estimated Length: 24 months Monday to Friday, 9 to 5:30 (including 1-hour unpaid lunch break), Paid weekly hours per week 37.50 Hours. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION Core programming language required is JavaScript and familiarity with PostgreSQL (the database) and GraphQL (internal API) are preferred. Experience with AWS and TypeScript are also plus. React is the framework used Other pluses • Cloud provider deployment experience, with an emphasis on AWS • Experience with C#, MS SQL, and Galang • 4-6 years of experience developing medium to large scale back-end or web applications in a team-based environment • Experience working in an Agile environment • Source control experience, with Git and Pull Request emphasis • Understanding of microservices and monoliths, with understanding of proper application of both approaches • Containerization and virtualization experience • Experience in using and publishing open source projects • Continuous integration and delivery, with an emphasis on Jenkins RESPONSIBILITIES • Define and architect components of the application • Define and build new features and capabilities • Build reusable code and libraries for future use • Optimize application for maximum speed and scalability • Collaborate with other team members and stakeholders DELIVERABLES & DUE DATES 1. Code screens for user testing prototypes 2. Code screens for the platform 3. Bugfixes 4. Develop enhancements based on agile backlog 5. Testing plans 6. Status reports PROJECT BACKGROUND The Live Media Manager Platform will be developed and rolled out to all agency communications staff to manage digital screens in our system. We are looking for a Back-end Developer to architect and develop a new web application that our communications teams use to manage communications to these digital screens. This role will be developing components of the app leveraging the latest back-end development methodologies, tools and techniques. This position will be instrumental in bringing a new, truly innovative software product to life, while making a huge impact on millions of New Yorkers, commuters and tourist by delivering a new breed of customer communications. We employ a user-focused product development process to build web apps and APis that ultimately surface vital transportation information to our riders.
