Requirements

Duties

Under the direct supervision of the Deputy Director of Purchasing, the selected candidate(s)
shall:
• Maintain an effective filing system.
• Coordinate the purchasing activities of the college and its related entities.
• Support the Finance Procurement Manager and incumbent Purchasing Agents in the
acquisitions of various goods and services, including Formal Requests for Proposals,
Invitation to Bids, Request for Quotes, and other procurement projects for multiple funding
sources and multiple parameters.
• Reviews purchasing requisitions, check descriptions, budgets, and specifications to
determine accuracy and adequacy and consults with department and agencies to adjust
possible discrepancies.
• Prepares proposals, specifications, and solicitation tools for bidding on goods and services
to support College operations.
• Develops lists of prospective bidders, makes investigations in relation to purchases and
handles special assignments as required.
• Reviews bids and quotations to determine most reasonable price in relation to market
conditions and responsibility of bidders and makes recommendations based on these
determinations.
• Analyze trade journals, catalogs, directories, and other technical material with respect to
market and price conditions.
• Prepares necessary purchasing documents in accordance with New York State procurement
guidelines.
• Provides recommendations for contract awards, contract modifications, formal request for
time extension on contracts, etc.
 

Qualifications
Qualified candidates must possess at minimum, a bachelor’s degree from an accredited higher
education institution and five (5) years’ related full-time experience in the public procurement
sector. Must be able to work well under pressure, work well in a diverse organization, and have a
strong sense of customer service. Strong ethics and integrity, computer/technology skills,
written/verbal communication skills are a must. Knowledge of Peoplesoft platforms a plus.
 

Days and Shifts
The qualified candidate shall be expected to work in a 50% hybrid on-campus/remote (from
home) setting as designated by the Deputy Director of Purchasing or the Business Office’s needs.The shift schedule is Monday through Friday, from 9 am to 5 pm (EST). No evening shifts or overtime shall be required for this position. The selected candidate shall not be expected to
report for duties on CUNY observed holidays.
