Estimated Length: 12 months M-F/8-4 Requirements This position is in the Lottery Accounting Unit with the following Job Description: Create and enter accurate journal entries based on supporting documentation. Assist the Associate Investment Officer and the Principal Accountant in the preparation and review of monthly financial statements. Conduct daily banking activities of the Lottery by managing daily cash deposits and incoming/outgoing funds transfers. Review daily reporting of federal, state, and city tax withholding from player prizes and ensure timely remittance of withholdings to the appropriate governmental agencies. Prepare revenue and reserve projection reports as required by management for internal and external reporting. Review the weekly funds settlement with Lottery’s contractor ensuring all commissions and fees are correct and make the appropriate transfers to the Lottery cash accounts at the Office of the State Comptroller. Reconcile daily Lottery subscription purchases to funds received. This includes comparing the daily remittance file received from the credit card processor to reports from the subscription system. Prepare payments to prize winners, annuitants, and tax entities timely and accurately. Maintain organized records and ensure supporting documentation is sufficient for all payments and journal entries. DATE: The start-date for this position will be December 1, 2021 contingent upon all approvals being obtained. The position is up to one (1) year and will be terminated upon appointment of a permanent placement. TICKET PURCHASE AND PRIZE PAYMENT RESTRICTIONS: Restrictions apply to the purchase of tickets and payment of prizes. No Temporary staff or relative living in the same household as these individuals shall purchase a New York Lottery ticket or be paid a prize in any New York Lottery game or multi-jurisdictional game the New York Lottery is a part of if (i) they conduct duties directly pursuant to the Lottery; or (ii) they have access to information made confidential by the Commission. The Successful Vendor shall ensure that this requirement is made known to each affected individual.
