Requirements

The Client Bureau of Pharmacy Benefits is seeking statistical assistants to serve in either the Pharmacy Benefit Manager Unit or the Drug Price Investigations Unit. In the Pharmacy Benefit Manager Unit the chosen applicant will provide support to the group responsible for reviewing reports from PBMs including assisting in the creation of the new reports to be filed, and building upon the data collection currently underway.  In the Drug Price Investigations Unit the chosen applicant will be responsible for gathering drug price data from various sources and writing a report based on that data identifying drug price increases the Unit may later investigate. Representative duties of a statistical assistant in the Bureau include, but are not limited to, the following: 

• Compiling and computing data according to statistical formulas for use in statistical analysis:
• Assists in designing and creating the infrastructure necessary to collect information from PBMs relative to examination and reporting requirements, including providing frequent communication and feedback about the likely utility of certain types of information
• Checks for data recording errors/ inconsistent reporting of information from PBMs
• Enters and aggregates data for use in reports, charts, graphs and/or analyses
• Compile information from PDF and Excel documents to create reports, charts, and graphs that describe and interpret analytic findings
• Assists in the presentation of analytic findings to team members on a regular basis
• Performs administrative and other related duties
• Using automated tools to extract data from primary and secondary sources.
• Perform analysis to assess quality and meaning of data.
• Identify, analyze and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets.
• Interpret data, analyze results using statistical techniques and provide ongoing reports. 
• Work with programmers, engineers, and management heads to identify process improvement opportunities and propose system modifications.
• Other duties as assigned by the Deputy Superintendent for Pharmacy Benefits

The ideal candidate will possess the following experience and competencies: 
• A bachelors degree and at least one year professional experience in data analytics or a related field.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team, including ability to convey technical concepts to other disciplines
• Strong mathematical skills to help collect, measure, organize and analyze data.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy. 
• Technical proficiency regarding database design development, data models, techniques for data mining, and segmentation.
• Experience doing research with publicly available information sources. 
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of information
